The actress who is remembered as Dana Hill was born as Dana Lynne Goetz; she however took her mother’s surname – Hill. She was born on May 6, 1964 in Encino, Los Angeles, California. His parents were Sandy Hill and Theodore Arthur “Ted” Goetz.
Growing up, Dana was an athletic kid and was noted for being third in the national 880 yard run and fourth in the mile run. However, a few weeks after this feat, she collapsed on the track. A medical diagnosis revealed that she had type 1 diabetes, which affected her growth and health throughout her life. As you’d expect, it also ended her dream of becoming a professional athlete.
Despite the challenges life presented her with in the beginning, Dana Hill wasn’t one to give in and watch life pass her by and not get anything out of it. Thus, despite the discouragement of her father, she began a career as an actress. She started by working on commercials. In particular, Dana was seen in a 1973 YMCA commercial. Thereafter, she began making screen appearances beginning with roles in television series like Mork & Mindy, The Case of the ‘Atlantic, Featherstone’s Nest, ABC Afterschool Special, and Family from 1978 to 1980.
In 1982, she landed a major role in the television series We Two Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Gallagher. This saw her perform alongside other stars like Tim Thomerson, Reggie Cavanaugh, Peter Cook, Robert Brentwood, Oliver Clark, Cubby Royce and Mimi Kennedy, Nan Gallagher.
The following year Dana Hill appeared in the film Shoot the Moon (1882) as Sherry Dunlap and followed it up with roles in other projects such as Cross Creek (1983), Waiting to Act and National Lampoon’s European Vacation both in 1985. She voiced the character Teddy 2 in Jetsons: The Movie (1990) and also did as Danny in Rover Dangerfield and Jerry in Tom and Jerry: The Movie (1992) which marked his last film work.
